The people of Tibet have been crying out for their voices to be heard and it’s up to us to let them know that we hear them, and that we want to help. Since 1950, the Chinese Communist Party(CCP) have restricted them from practicing their culture and traditions, causing them to operate in exile with a disintegrated government. Not many people fully understand why we need to bring attention to what is happening in Tibet, despite China taking over 800 years ago. China uses fearmongering as a way to threaten Tibetans into submission and have made them a minority in their own country. This is a genocide and the Chinese government is trying to eliminate the Tibetan population.
1.BUT CHINA TOOK OVER TIBET 800 YEARS AGO, WHY ARE PEOPLE MAD OVER OLD NEWS?:
Tibet is not legally part of China and is still an independent nation. However, China has taken illegal occupation over the nation for the past 70 years and has interfered with Tibetan religion, culture, and have killed over 430,000 Tibetans. China is violating international law which helps protect the independence of states from attempts to destroy it.. Tibet has proven its status as an independent state since the start and China has no obligation to illegally occupy Tibet
2.DIDN’T CHINA HELP TIBET’S GOVERNMENT WHEN EVERYTHING WAS OUT OF PLACE?:
China’s claim to have “helped Tibet '' was based on their idea of “peacefully and safely” liberating Tibet and reforming its government. This is absolutely false. In 1951, Tibet was forced to sign a treaty called the “Seventeen Point Agreement” which said to guarantee Tibetan autonomy and protect religion but also allowed the establishment of Chinese military in Lhasa, Tibet. Tibetans consider this agreement as invalid due to being under duress from the Chinese government.
3.CHINA IS GIVING TIBET FREEDOM!:
Since 1950, China has restricted Tibetans from practicing their culture and traditions, causing them to operate in exile with a disintegrated government. The policies set by the Chinese government are inhuman and have created a depression in the Tibetans’ lives.
4.NO ONE IN TIBET CARES THOUGH, THEY ARE ALL ENJOYING LIFE UNDER CHINESE RULE:
In an effort to keep control of Tibet, the Chinese government has used different forms of propaganda. China has made it look like Tibetans are having fun due to their control over Tibetan media to hide the awful governing that’s been put in place. This has made it difficult for Tibet to regain their freedom from China, even after 800 years of their control.
5.OKAY...BUT THE DALAI LAMA WANTS CONTROL OVER TIBET:
This is entirely false. The global support for Tibet has actually come from the Dalai Lama’s popular political power to raise awareness and support Tibetans’ argument for greater freedom without independence. The Tibetans that are still living in Tibet remain dedicated to him and their religion and culture, despite the policies of the Chinese government.
